LWA Membership Standards
The Lansing Wedding Association represents a community of trusted, professional wedding vendors serving Mid-Michigan couples. Our mission is to connect engaged couples with reliable, ethical, and experienced businesses that elevate every wedding experience.
LWA membership is a privilege that reflects each vendor’s commitment to professionalism, integrity, and customer care. These Membership Standards outline the expectations, ethics, and policies that help us maintain credibility and trust within our community.
LWA Bylaws
The Lansing Wedding Association operates as a privately owned Michigan business under an LLC. Our goal is to maintain transparency, consistency, and professionalism across all events, members, and listings.

Structure and Governance
- The LWA is managed by the Executive Director.
- An Advisory Board of six experienced vendors assists with event promotion, community outreach, and membership. This board is advisory only.
- Advisory Board members are selected by the Executive Director and Operations Director, based on their dedication to promoting the LWA.
- Daily operations and member communications are managed by the LWA team, including the Operations Manager and contracted staff.

Membership and Renewal
- Membership is open to verified wedding professionals who maintain high ethical and service standards.
- Annual membership fees and bridal show booth payments are non-refundable.
- Renewal reminders are sent electronically before membership expiration.
- Membership may be revoked for non-payment, verified client complaints, or violations of the LWA Code of Ethics.

Meetings and Communication
The LWA hosts networking mixers and bridal shows throughout the year. Members will receive updates and announcements via email. The LWA staff can be reached at support@lansingbridalshow.com.

Conflict Resolution
Disputes are reviewed by the Advisory Board and Executive Director. All decisions are final and intended to maintain fairness and protect the reputation of the association.

Amendments
The LWA reserves the right to revise these bylaws to align with industry standards and operational needs. Any updates will be communicated to members via email and reflected on this page.
Code of Ethics
As an LWA Member, you represent the region’s most trusted and professional wedding businesses. By joining, you agree to uphold these ten core values:

1. Professional Excellence — Deliver dependable, high-quality services that reflect positively on both your business and the Lansing Wedding Association.
2. Integrity and Honesty — Provide truthful, transparent information in all advertising, contracts, and communications.
3. Legal and Ethical Conduct — Operate in compliance with all state, local, and industry regulations. This includes tax and insurance obligations.
4. Respect for Clients and Peers — Treat all couples, collaborators, and competitors with professionalism and courtesy. This includes interactions in person, on social media, and in correspondence.

5. Accountability — Follow through on commitments and address customer concerns promptly and fairly.
6. Confidentiality — Protect client information and use it solely for legitimate business purposes.
7. Continuous Learning — Commit to professional development and staying current in your field.
8. Positive Representation — Maintain a professional presence at all times, both online and at events.
9. Fair Competition — Refrain from misleading practices or attempts to discredit other members.
10. Compliance and Consequences — Understand that violations or repeated verified complaints may result in suspension or removal from membership without refund.
Non-Compete & Non-Solicitation Clause

1. Purpose
The Lansing Wedding Association (“LWA”) invests significant time, expense, and goodwill in developing its bridal shows, membership programs, vendor networks, and marketing strategies. To protect these collective interests, this agreement establishes reasonable limits on members and vendors regarding competing activities and the use of confidential information.
2. Non-Compete Obligation
During active membership or participation in any LWA event, and for a period of twelve (12) months following the most recent participation, the member or vendor shall not, directly or indirectly:
• Organize, manage, sponsor, or promote any bridal show, wedding expo, vendor fair, or similar event within a 75-mile radius of the Greater Lansing area that competes with LWA events;
• Partner, consult, or collaborate with any entity or person for the purpose of creating a competing event within that same geographic area; or
• Use LWA’s name, event model, materials, or goodwill in connection with any such competing event.

3. Non-Solicitation Obligation
Members and vendors shall not, during or after participation in LWA, use any vendor, attendee, or sponsor contact information obtained through LWA to:
• Solicit participation in competing events,
• Form a new association, or
• Divert vendors or attendees from future LWA events.All vendor and attendee lists, marketing plans, and event materials remain the confidential property of LWA.
4. Remedies and Enforcement
Violation of this clause may result in:
• Immediate termination of membership and forfeiture of any booth fees or benefits,
• Permanent exclusion from future LWA events, and
• Legal action for injunctive relief and recovery of damages, attorney’s fees, and maximum costs as permitted by Michigan law.
5. Reasonableness and Severability
The member or vendor acknowledges that this restriction is reasonable and necessary to protect the Association’s goodwill and the collaborative success of its members. If any part of this clause is deemed unenforceable, the remaining portions shall remain valid to the fullest extent permitted by law.

By submitting this application or participating in any Lansing Wedding Association event, you confirm that you have read, understand, and agree to the LWA Code of Ethics and Membership Guidelines, including the Non-Compete & Non-Solicitation Clause.
Website Policy & Fair Use Agreement
The Lansing Wedding Association maintains a curated online vendor directory to connect couples with trusted local professionals. To preserve the quality and accuracy of this resource, all listings must follow the policies below:

Listing Guidelines
• Members may appear only under categories that match their verified products or services.
• Listings must represent the official member business — no cross-promotion of other brands or affiliate companies that are not LWA members.
• Logos and photos belong only in designated image fields; text areas must remain free of graphics.

Content Standards
• Descriptions and imagery must remain professional, relevant, and appropriate for a general audience.
• The LWA reserves the right to edit, remove, or reject any content deemed misleading, offensive, or unrelated to the wedding industry.
• Non-member events or advertisements may be declined at the discretion of the LWA Team.

Leads and Coupons
• Leads generated from the website and bridal shows are the property of the LWA.
• Leads may not be shared, sold, or transferred. Violations are subject to removal, prosecution, and maximum legal damages.
• Coupons and special offers must provide genuine value and reasonable expiration dates, as determined by the LWA.
